Active Weekend with HSE University
On 15 August, the Academia rowing base will host a water sports event for students, staff and alumni of HSE University.
'Active Weekend with HSE University' combines sports, recreation on the water, an introduction to rafting, and informal networking in a natural setting within Moscow city limits. Participants will navigate a water route along one of the capital's most scenic waterways, and will also have time to relax in the recreation area at the base after the water excursion.
The event is organised by the Centre for Sports Community Development in partnership with the Academia Rowing Club and the Moscow Rafting Federation.

Event Programme
Group Paddle
The first stage of the programme is a group paddle on SUP boards and kayaks lasting approximately 2.5 hours. Safety equipment will be provided for participants, along with guidance from instructors and organisers.
The route starts from the Academia base in Tushino and follows the Skhodnya River, leading out to the Moscow Rowing Canal. Participants will explore Olympic infrastructure sites, learn the basics of competitive rowing and slalom, try their hand at navigating slalom gates, venture into the Moscow River water area, visit the Spassky Backwater, and return to the Academia base.
A local history talk about the district's development and Moscow's water sports heritage will also be included along the route.
BBQ and Relaxation Area
Upon return, a social and relaxation area will be set up at the base. Guests will have access to a BBQ zone, a picnic on the base grounds, land-based sports games, and additional water activities. This will be a great opportunity to connect with fellow HSE members and make new acquaintances before the start of the academic year.
