‘Our University Offers a Wide Variety of Opportunities’
How does one choose the most suitable programme? Is it difficult for first-year students to become acclimated at HSE University? Nikita Anisimov, HSE University Rector, answered these and other questions on the eve of the university-wide Open Day for prospective students of bachelor's and specialist programmes.
Subscribers to HSE University’s social networks were able to ask questions to HSE University Rector Nikita Anisimov on the eve of the university-wide Open Day, which will be held on March 3, 2024. He spoke about career opportunities for the students, international mobility programmes, support for sports, and much more.

Answering the question 'Which area would you choose if you were an applicant in 2024?’, Nikita Anisimov said that the university has many educational programmes and areas of training—from economics, law, mathematics, and chemistry to creative industries and computer science. 'Our university offers a wide variety of opportunities. If I gave you the choice I’d make myself, it would make it too easy for you. Choose what you personally like, and you will have no regrets about enrolling in HSE University,’ he explained.
The Rector also pointed out that HSE University still remains a university open to the world, which maintains interaction with traditional international partners and establishes communication with new ones. 'We have opened our representative offices in Southeast Asia, we are in the countries of the Asia-Pacific region, and are interacting with Africa. Most recently, our mission travelled to almost all countries of Latin America: we established partnerships with leading universities in Brazil, Chile, and Mexico,’ said Nikita Anisimov.
When speaking about how difficult it is to study at HSE University and whether it is possible to combine work with study, the Rector agreed that while it is indeed difficult, it is possible ‘if you have the strength for it.’ He noted that the university provides many opportunities for students to work with different employers: ‘We have a huge number of joint departments. The educational process is built around projects and practical activities, including interdisciplinary ones. Our graduates are the people that employers are truly after.’
At the end of the unusual interview, the Rector invited applicants and their parents to the Open Day. Here, one can learn more about the educational programmes and student life, meet teachers and future classmates. 'And most importantly, you will see how big, beautiful, and diverse our wonderful HSE University is. Once you arrive, you will find that there is no other university for you!’ Nikita Anisimov explained.
Open Day for applicants to bachelor's and specialist programmes will be held on the coming Sunday, March 3, at 11 Pokrovsky Bulvar. Please register for the Open Day here.
