HSE University Co-Organises International Dictation on Financial Security
The International Dictation on Financial Security will be held on September 1–30. The large-scale online project is designed to raise awareness in people of all ages about problems in the field of economic stability. This year's dictation will be dedicated to new technologies in financial security: from personal protection to state sovereignty. HSE University was one of the event organisers of the new season.
During the dictation, participants will learn new and useful information that will help them protect themselves from becoming a victim or accomplice in financial crimes. The event also promotes the development of critical thinking and digital hygiene skills—the ability to pause, ask the right question, and recognise a threat before it affects your wallet or personal data.
The dictation will be held in an online format, and anyone from anywhere in the world can join it. This season, participants will have to answer twenty questions covering the most relevant topics—from the history of financial fraud to modern criminal schemes using cryptocurrencies, money mules, and artificial intelligence. Specialists from the HSE University Faculty of Law and the HSE Tikhonov Moscow Institute of Electronics and Mathematics have prepared a series of tasks that will help the participants test their knowledge of digital financial threats and methods of countering them.
Following the results of the online testing, all participants will receive personalised certificates and an overview of their mistakes. Those who score more than 90 points will receive a winner's certificate. The project will culminate in a special on-site session during the final week of the V International Financial Security Olympiad in Krasnoyarsk. All guests of the olympiad will be able to test their knowledge.
Last year, almost 18,000 participants from 15 countries took part in the dictation, with 45% of them going on to become winners. The results of the previous season demonstrate the high level of interest in financial security, and the project has expanded to the national and international levels. The event is held as part of the Youth and Children national project.
Alexander Chepovskiy
HSE University has been a member of the International Network AML/CFT Institute for two years and is participating in the events of the International Financial Security Olympiad, so we had to get involved in the implementation of the International Dictation. We are certain that this project will develop every year and help all of us feel much more confident while dealing with potential threats. Participation in the dictation is free, so I encourage everyone to join the event and take this important step towards financial security,’ says Alexander Chepovskiy, Director of the Prospective Students Office.
