Exchange Students from Nice Visit HSE Faculty of Law
HSE Faculty of Law delivered a course on Jurisprudence for exchange students from the Nice Sophia Antipolis University as part of long-term ties between the universities. This was the first student exchange under the partnership agreement between the two universities. HSE plans to further develop this partnership programme.
The students attended lectures on Russian law by Anita Soboleva, on English and American law by Alexander Domrin, on comparative law by Dmitry Poldnikov, and on EU law by Antonios Platsas.
The students also enjoyed a rich cultural programme. They visited the Tretyakov gallery and the Kremlin, and went to the ballet at the Bolshoi Theatre. Besides, they visited Tsaritsyno and Kolomenskoye parks as well as Moscow’s popular Gorky Park, and walked around the Moscow International Business Center, where they watched fireworks from one of the towers.
Agnès Chatel shared her impressions of the programme and of Moscow in general:
‘These two weeks in Moscow were amazing, I really liked this city, its culture, its history, its architecture and people I met. Red Square and the Kremlin were extraordinary, the beauty of these places were breathtaking. I never tired of enjoying my time there. The city comprises many different architectural styles. The Moscow subway is undoubtedly the most beautiful I have ever seen. I loved all the green spaces and especially Gorky Park and the VDNKH. I noticed there were lots of security checks and I felt safe in Moscow (unlike France!). Moscow really is a city full of life and I loved the energy I felt. Russian history is fascinating and Moscow is marked by its history. ‘
‘The courses were very interesting and especially "Introduction to Russian law" because we can see a number of similarities with French law. In addition, thanks to Ivan, we had the chance to attend a hearing at the Commercial Court. All the students we met were lovely with us, they helped us and thanks to them we discovered beautiful places. I was deeply touched by their kindness and dedication.
This stay was perfect and I really hope I have the opportunity to return to Russia soon.’
